Product Safety Regulation - for textile and fashion companies
The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) of the EU entered into force on June 12, 2023, and will be applicable from December 13, 2024. This regulation replaces the existing General Product Safety Directive and the Food Imitating Product Directive, aiming to address the safety challenges posed by new technologies and the digitalization of markets.
The GPSR applies to all companies, regardless of size, and covers all non-food consumer products, including textile companies. The GPSR aims at strengthening consumer protection by ensuring that all consumer products, including textiles, are safe and meet the necessary safety standards before being placed on the EU market.
By attending the course, you will gain knowledge on:
- The basic concept of product safety
- What types of risks that can occur
- How to perform a risk assessment of a generic product.
- How to handle risks (acceptance, redesign, testing, guidance)
- How to systematize the assessments and avoid unnecessary repetition.
The above mentioned elements will be illustrated with examples from the textile industry
