Germany’s Energy Transition and Danish Business: A Dialogue with the German Ambassador to Denmark
As Germany navigates a changing political landscape, high energy costs and the need to strengthen industrial competitiveness, important questions are emerging for companies across Europe. What direction is Germany taking? What will its political priorities mean for the green transition? And where will new opportunities and challenges arise for Danish energy companies?
Germany’s Energy Transition and Danish Business: A Dialogue with the German Ambassador to Denmark
Germany’s energy transition is entering a decisive phase.
The German government has recently presented a roadmap for phasing out coal, oil and natural gas by 2045. The plan places electrification, renewable energy and energy efficiency at the centre of Germany’s long-term strategy for achieving climate neutrality.
However, the transition is not taking place in a political vacuum. Germany must also address high energy costs, industrial competitiveness, energy security and the need for a reliable electricity system. This creates a complex political balancing act between accelerating the green transition and ensuring affordable, secure and competitive energy for households and businesses.
For Danish companies, this development is highly relevant. Germany is Denmark’s largest trading partner and an important market for companies working with renewable energy, electrification, energy efficiency, district heating, Power-to-X and other climate and energy solutions.
At this event, the Danish Chamber of Commerce welcomes Anke Meyer, the German Ambassador to Denmark, for a conversation about Germany’s political direction and its implications for Danish energy companies.
We will explore how Germany’s climate and energy policies are changing, how the country is balancing decarbonisation with competitiveness and energy security, and what the new political direction means for Danish companies operating in or seeking access to the German market.
Join us for a conversation about Germany’s energy transition, the political choices shaping it and the opportunities and challenges facing Danish business.
